More Medical Madness!

For the past few weeks Greg has been having some rapid pounding heart beats that have gotten progressively worse and worse. I finally convinced him to go see his doctor. They thought that it might be stress or anxiety related. Greg didn't agree. They gave him Zanax to help him sleep and told him to schedule an appointment for the cardiologist. I scheduled this for him but they couldn't get him in until Aug. 8th.
Alexa and I headed to SLC last weekend and Greg's plan is to meet us here this coming Friday. I threatened him before I left to BE A MAN and go to the ER if he had any issues. (He hates going to the doctor). He went fishing/camping by himself over the weekend which I wasn't happy about and thankfully he didn't have any issues. When he got home he was taking a shower and nearly passed out because his heart was pounding so hard. He took himself to the ER and called me while waiting. He told me that he was at the grocery store "picking up stuff". LIAR! He is so sweet not wanting me to worry but COME ON!
He called me back around 11:30 PM because the ER docs wanted to admit him over night and they would have to call his emergency contact (me) to let me know and he didn't want them to call me first and have me freak out (I was anyway). He was seen by the cardiologist the next afternoon and was finally released late in the day. Can you imagine how bored Greg was. Nearly 24 hours SITTING in a hospital bed, he can't sit still for 10 min let alone lay in a bed for that long.
The cardiologist had reviewed his monitoring and stated that his heart beat would drop to an extremely low rate. This forces his heart to kick in and work hard to get it back up to a normal rate. Professional athletes have very low resting heart rates, Greg's was much lower than this. They told him that he needed to wear a more high tech monitor for at least 24 hours to get a better idea of what would need to be done. They stated that it is very common these days for men his age (All of 30 years old) to have this condition (not sure what it is called yet). They often have to put in a pace maker to solve the problem. This is what they "may" need to do with Greg. We will not know much more until the 15th. This is when Greg has to go back in to meet with the cardiologist. They will tell him what the monitor showed and we will go from there. As for now we are just sitting and waiting, hoping that it is something minor.

I am so glad that you like the shabby tulips site. It is so fun. It is a small world, Bettina is my husbands cousin, and Auburn is Sheldons sister, and Sheldon is best friends with my husband. I hope that all made sense. Anyway, I hope you don't mind, but I visit your site to get to know you a little more. I am sorry to hear (read) about your husband (SCARY) and your ER visits. I hate it there. I hope all gets better with you guys soon! Take care.
