{Gavin Gregory is Home!}

It's true, Gavin is home!

{The following is for journaling purposes only, you can read if you want but be prepared for a novel}

We arrived at the hospital on Saturday night at 8:30pm. My doctor let the nurses know that we were coming which was great. There were no other women there in labor either so it was like we had the entire maternity ward to ourselves.
Our OB triage nurse, Kippy was the same nurse that got us prepared with Alexa. She recognized us before we did her. It was really funny.
We were prepped and in the OR by 9:40 pm. I was given a spinal and prepped for surgery with a start time (first incision) of 10:14 pm. Gavin was born at 10:22 pm., Dr. Richard Wilson (the greatest OB in the world) delivered him. The staff was fantastic in the surgery, it was really a pleasant experience. I of course, was a mess once he was born. I am hormonal anyway but I got really emotional.
Gavin took about 2 seconds to cry. He was screaming with his first breath and he didn't stop for quite a while. It was great to hear him so quickly. Greg and my first thoughts were that he looked EXACTLY like Alexa. It was crazy how similar they looked right at birth.
After a few photos, Greg and Gavin went to the recovery room while I was being closed up. Gavin was measured and weighed then they were able to spend some quality time together before I was taken in. I couldn't wait to hold him.
We were in the recovery area for about 2 hours then were taken to our room. They gave us the biggest room in the joint... it was still pretty small. But at least we didn't have to share with anyone. I guess they don't allow it at my hospital, which is great!
Sunday Greg, Grandma & Grandpa Jepson and Alexa all came to the hospital in the morning. Alexa was excited about the baby at first and then decided she didn't care. They spent quite a while with us then the 3 visitors went home while Greg, Gavin and I relaxed. Alexa had a hard time leaving which made me quite upset. She and I both got over it quickly.
Sunday's visitors included; Kristy, Britany, Jeremy, Maya & Kenyon. We were all spoiled with gifts and Brit took care of my boredom by bringing her mini DVD and lots of chick flicks. Shantel, Dan & Izzie came by on Monday along with Gpa, Gma & Alexa again. They too spoiled us with Gifts. My girlfriends are always so thoughtful to think of everyone else, Alexa was thought of by each visitor which was great for her while we were there. We have great friends.
Monday went by quite slowly. Gavin was circumcised right when half of the visitors got there so they had to wait nearly 2 hours for him to come back from the procedure. I wasn't able to get too many naps in but I slept great that night.
Tuesday we got up, got ready and were headed home by noon. We spent some time at home and then Greg & Alexa took my parents to the airport. They were SOOOO great while they were here. My mom and Alexa have always had fun together but they became very buddy buddy this weekend. Gma & Gpa gave her some great dress up clothes for her birthday and she LOVED them. They played with them a lot, went to the park, played in the back yard and had a great time. It was nice to not have to worry about her while I was not home.
They also kept my house clean as well as laundry and dishes done and meals prepared. I can't accomplish these tasks with just Alexa and I. We REALLY appreciated all that they did for our little family this weekend.
Now that we are home and it is just the four of us, it is a little strange. Greg has been so great. He is a regular old Mr. Mom. He is doing anything and everything around the house as well as taking care of all three of the rest of us. He is trying so hard to make things easy on me and Alexa. She has been great too. I was worried how she would respond to Gavin but she is loving it. She wants to help change diapers, push him in his swing, teach him signing time, hold his hand etc. She is really obsessed with how small his hands and feet are. It is really funny. She has been a bit hyper but we can handle that.
All in all thing are going really well and we are so excited that Gavin is finally here.

I had to take a pix just before we headed off to the hospital. It is the last photo of our family of three! Now I can't wait to take a lot with our new little guy.
