9 Months Old

Tomorrow Gavin will be 9 months old.
He is really getting so fun and very funny.
Last Tuesday I took him into the doctor due to a fever he had and an ear infection. We started him on antibiotics. On Friday I took him in for his 9 month check up. The antibiotics he was given weren't working because his other ear was then infected. Poor guy. He also had to have his toe pricked and 2 shots. He wasn't a happy camper when the visit was all over. They gave us a new antibiotic and hopefully it is working now.
At his last well-check he hadn't grown at all in length or weight in several months. They were worried about his hormone levels but wanted to wait until his next well check before running tests. At one point he was in the 85th %-tile for both weight and height and had dropped to the 25th %-ile for both in January. But from January until now (just 26 days) he jumped up to the 70th %-ile for height and is stuck at the 25th for weight.
He is weighing in at 18.94 lbs and is almost 29". His head is 18" = 64.73%-ile.
He isn't crawling yet but REALLY wants to. He gets very frustrated that he can't figure it out. He LOVES to walk and we are now in the same back breaking mode that we were in with Alexa for a long time. Walking him while he holds our hands. He really likes to kick our big pink ball. A soccer star in the making!
I began giving him solids (rice cereal, fruits, veggies) at 4 months. And still to this day he REFUSES to eat them. This also is a concern with the doctor. He will eat our home made chicken noodle soup (the juices) and when I told the doctor this she said just to go ahead and move him on to real food. Yesterday he had diced cooked carrots and LOVED them. Tonight I gave him mac & cheese.. he couldn't get enough. Greg's mom said that he was the same way. Stubborn boys. Hopefully he sticks to this new love for food or else he is going to have to go to a feeding specialist at Phoenix Children's Hospital. Yikes!! Next we need to get him to love taking milk from a cup.
In the past week he has started sleeping MUCH better. It used to be hard to get him to nap. I would get maybe 30 min at a time on a good day and I would have to rock him to sleep. Now I can just rock him in the rocker for a few min and put him down wide awake and get about 2-two hour naps. Yahoo! (Alexa did this from about 4 months - 18 months. She was/is the best sleeper).
Gav makes the FUNNIEST grit teeth smile. With all 2 of his teeth. Here is a great picture of this funny face. I love it! He does this when he is REALLY excited.

Oh so cute! Love the tooth smile. I'm so glad he likes table food now. What a relief for you. Now on to the sippie cups. One baby step at a time. ;)
